Our old Nikon 4300 gave up the ghost some months back and we decided to get a new camera. Actually, the sales decided it for us. My wife and I saw in the David Jones catalogue that the Canon Digital Ixus 55 on sale for about $120 off the retail price. Of course we couldn't pass up a bargain and when we found ourselves in the city last Sunday after church I thought I'd go and see if we could buy it.Unfortunately, the store didn't have any in stock anymore and explained that because the model was to be superseded it was on sale and a very popular buy. Not to be deterred, I grabbed a copy of the catalogue and marched up to a few stores in the city. However, the other stores were still selling the Canon for the retail price and couldn't even match the price that David Jones was selling it for.
In the end, I was able to find one store who was able to sell the camera for the same price. They had to order it in though but today, they rang up and I brought home our latest toy. I'm still testing it out. It's got a lot of great features, it's small and sturdy but mainly I'm most happy that I got it for a great price.

the camera looks so nice and most probably easy to handle- does it have any features for digital-ignoramouslike me,to send pictures thru e-mail!! just got one session with fritz on how to send pictures by e-mail. Does your camera have a belt-in automatic e-mail pictures to be sent- so maximize the camera and send us some more pictures- he,he
